AfriCAN Climate

The main aim of the AfriCAN Climate project is the development, operation and promotion of a web-based Knowledge Platform for efficient dissemination of climate change research results and good practices, to encourage users for uptake of success stories and research knowledge in new projects.

P.A.U. Education is one of the ten partners of the consortium in charge of the AfriCAN Climate project. The responsibility of P.A.U. Education is to provide a web 2.0 platform, multilingual and structured with the elements that will allow organizations, experts and practicioners to share their knowledge and best practices about the Climate Change in Africa.

The project is part of a wider European Commission initiative covering several environmental topics, held by DG Research and Innovation in collaboration with the African Union.

Partners are experts from various fields. The combination of their expertise is the basis of the project success.

  • DTU, DANMARKS TEKNISKE UNIVERSITET, from Denmark
  • PRACTICAL ACTION, from United Kingdom
  • ENDA, en environmental ONG from Senegal
  • FANRPAN, a Food related ONG from Souht Africa
  • UNIVERSITY OF THE WITWATERSRAND (WITS) from South Africa
  • ICRAF, a research centre from Kenya
  • ICPAC, CENTRE FOR CLIMATE PREDICTION, from Kenya
Impact:
  • The project's target is to cover all the African countries;
  • Multilanguage platform: English, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Kiswahili, Wolof;
  • During the three years contract, the web platform will help institutions and practicioners to share their experiencies on the climate change.
