The AfriCAN climate project finally begins! From 23 to 25 November 2011, a P.A.U. Education team (composed by Gary, Javier and Agnès) participated the kick-off meeting of this exciting project.
The main aim of the AfriCAN Climate project (promoted by the European Commission under an FP7 contract) is the development, operation and promotion of a web-based Knowledge Platform for efficient dissemination of climate change research results and good practices, to encourage users for uptake of success stories and research knowledge in new projects. Thereby, the project will contribute to mitigate climate change impacts on African regions and help communities to adapt to the changing climatic conditions. P.A.U. Education is part of a ten-members consortium which is going to develop the project. We provide to the project our wide expertise in best practice sharing and knowledge portals and will be creating the portal for this projects amongst other tasks. During the kick off we met nearly 20 people, from more than 10 different countries from Europe and Africa. They all are experts in the field of climate change working for ONG organizations, Universities and research institutes. We also were visited by EC Project Officers dealing with projects related to research in various fields in Africa, for example, in health, food, water, etc. All project partners are excited about working on this project with a duration of 3 years, that gives P.A.U. Education the possibility to create a portal reference in the field of climate change in Africa. |
