Two of the major European campaigns soon in AthensTwo of the European campaigns managed by P.A.U. Education for the European Commission are going to stop in Athens this very March: The first Greek National Charter Tour from The European Road Safety Charter (Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport-DG MOVE), and The European Year of Volunteering Tour (Directorate-General Communication).
On the 3rd of March, P.A.U. Education’s Charter team will organize the Greek event on road safety of the European Charter when 64 organisations will be committing and renewing their commitment to carry out road safety measures in Greece and Europe. This national event will take place at the amphitheatre of the Ministry of Transport, in the presence of the vice-minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Networks, Mr. Spyros Vougias. The European Road Safety Charter, managed by P.A.U. Education since 2005, is part of the Road Safety Action Plan, launched six years ago by the European Commission with the ambitious goal of contributing to halving the number of deaths on European roads. The Charter involves companies, public authorities and civil society and provides a unique opportunity to take direct and decisive actions to reduce road fatalities. Athens will be the last stop of the successful European Tour of the Charter through the 27 Member States. We will go back to Athens from March, 17 to 23, this time for the European Year of Volunteering Tour that will stop at the Technopolis (Gazi), an industrial museum and a major cultural venue of the Greek capital where different volunteer organization will share their experiences on volunteering. Athens will be the 6th stop of the European Tour that will pass through all Member States’ capitals along 2011. It will last, each time, for approximately ten days providing volunteers the opportunity to exhibit their work, to meet one another, to engage with policy-makers and the general public, to convey their energy and enthusiasm, and to discuss key issues for the future of their work.
