Description:

Published since 2006, eLearning Papers has become a unique space for debate and plurality amongst ICTs and learning researchers and practitioners in Europe. The papers are published 5 times a year, with executive summaries in 21 languages, and receive over 10.000 visits per month.

eLearning Papers is inspired by the creative role that ICTs have in transforming learning practices. The journal, led by an editorial board, is part of elearningeuropa.info portal, an initiative of the European Commission to promote the use of ICT for education and training. “Ahorro para todos” empieza con fuerza en Portugal

“Ahorro para Todos”, el taller-proyecto de "Valores de futuro" (educación financiera), se lleva a cabo por primera vez este año en Portugal y está teniendo una gran aceptación en los centros.

Description:

Una de las novedades de la segunda edición de "Valores de futuro" - proyecto desarollado por P.A.U. Education para BBVA - en Portugal es el taller-proyecto “Ahorro para Todos”, cuyo objetivo es que los alumnos pongan en práctica sus capacidades para ahorrar dentro de la escuela y aprendan la importancia del ahorro.

Muchas escuelas portuguesas están desarrollando este taller-proyecto y están muy entusiasmadas con los resultados que están obteniendo con sus alumnos, quienes además de vivenciar el valor del ahorro, aprenden a trabajar en equipo y a abordar valores fundamentales para su formación como ciudadanos.

En este vídeo del programa “Porto Alive!” de Porto Canal, Margarete Gomes y sus alumnos de la escuela Escola básica do 1.º ciclo com Jardim de Infância de Espinho, explican qué actividades están realizando para ahorrar y por qué les parece importante trabajar en “Ahorro para Todos”.

El magazine diario Porto Alive! de Porto Canal tiene una sección dedicada a economía, y los participantes de Valores de futuro fueron entrevistados en varias ocasiones.

P.A.U. Education and ACQUIA: our Drupal platforms are in good hands

Summary:

P.A.U. Education started in December 2011 a new collaboration with the best Drupal website hosting service provider: ACQUIA.

Description:

Acquia was founded by Dries Buytaert, the original creator and project lead of the Drupal project, and Jay Batson, previously founder and CEO of Pingtel. Their investors include North Bridge Venture Partners, Sigma Partners, and O’Reilly AlphaTech Ventures.

The use of the hosting services provided by ACQUIA will allow P.A.U. Education to complete the features and capabilities of its main portals with a wide range of tools and funcionalities related to anti-spam mechanisms, enhanced performance, stronger search engine, enhanced quality control processes, etc.

The first portal migrated to ACQUIA cloud servers is ePractice.eu. P.A.U. Education in consortium with ATOS, is responsible for the technical maintenance of this plaftorm. Additionally, the website was upgraded at the beginning of Feburary 2012 to offer a better accessibility to its users.

Official EU launch of the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations: Get involved!

Summary:

18 January 2012 marks the start of the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations, with a two-day conference in Copenhagen (Denmark).

Description:

The European Year aims to raise awareness about active ageing, especially in the fields of employment, participation in the society and independent living of older people. The European Year will encourage stakeholders and policymakers to set commitments in these areas and take concrete action.

These commitments can range from legislative reform (e.g. remove obstacles that prevent older people from staying in employment), to analysis or public debates, raising awareness, or identifying priorities for action. For instance, cities can join the age-friendly cities programme of the World Health Organisation; companies can improve the working conditions for older workers; civil society organisations can foster senior volunteering. The website of the European Year is the place where such commitments can be made public and where inspiration can be found from what is happening elsewhere. At the end of the year, the most successful commitments will be given recognition at national and European level.

László Andor, EU Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, said: "Active ageing is about helping older people to stay in work and share their experience. It is about them continuing to play an active role in society and living as healthy, independent and fulfilling lives as possible. Active ageing is essential to reach our 75% employment target and to lift at least 20 million people out of poverty by 2020. The Year calls for action in different areas - employment, social protection, education and training, health and social services, housing and public infrastructure".

The European Year 2012 covers three dimensions of active ageing:
- Active ageing in employment. Encouraging older workers to stay in employment requires notably the improvement of working conditions and their adaptation to the health status and needs of older workers, updating their skills by providing better access to life long learning and the review of tax and benefit systems to ensure that there are effective incentives for working longer.
- Participation in society. Improving the opportunities and conditions for older people to contribute to society as volunteers or family carers and to participate in society, thus avoiding social isolation and many of the associated problems and risks.
- Independent living. Health promotion and preventive health care through measures that maximise healthy life years and prevent dependency as well as making the environment (public buildings, infrastructure, transport, buildings) more age-friendly, allowing older people to stay as independent as possible.

Throughout the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations, hundreds of activities, projects and communication events will take place and will be promoted both at the EU and national levels.

Key dates and events related to EY2012 and active ageing:
- 18/19 January: EY2012 opening conference in Copenhagen
- January/February: National opening conferences
- 14 February: Forum on EY2012 organised by the Committee of the Regions in Brussels
- March: Media conference "Reporting on ageing and solidarity between generations" in Brussels
- 7 April: World Health Day on Health and Ageing
- 29 April: European Day of Solidarity between Generations (promote intergenerational encounters in schools around in the weeks before and after 29 April)
- 4 June: Conference on "Good governance for Active and Healthy Ageing" in Brussels
- 19/20 September: UNECE Ministerial Conference on Ageing in Vienna
- 1 October: International Day of Older People
- 4 November: European Demography Forum
- November: Award Ceremony in Brussels
- December: Closing conference in Cyprus

P.A.U. Education has been selected by the European Commission to design and implement the above explained communication campaign on a European level and in all EU Member States.

Social networks for Road Safety in Europe

Summary:

Since the creation, a few months ago, of its Facebook page and Twitter account, the European Road Safety Charter has encountered a growing success in terms of awareness on social networks.

Description:

The profiles have just reached two symbolic figures; there are now more than 100 friends on Facebook and over 150 followers on Twitter.

This presence on the social networks reflects the central role that the Charter has in Road Safety. It links the main stakeholders in Europe and from all over the world where it represents a unique example of exchange of good practices. It also demonstrates the know-how of stakeholder engagement and social networks in the field of Road Safety by our colleagues Nicholas and Daniele, who are in charge of those networks for the project.

The European Road Safety Charter is a community of stakeholders acting to help reduce road fatalities in Europe. They submit voluntary commitments on behalf of their institutions, enterprises, associations and schools from all 27 Member States.

P.A.U. Education is managing this project for the European Commission, DG MOVE, since its creation in 2004.

European Road Safety Charter

"La temática de la charla encaja perfectamente con las actividades de la clase", opinan los profesores

Summary:

La “Energía, el medio ambiente y tu”, el programa pedagógico de Gas Natural Fenosa, sigue su curso.

Description:

Los 22 educadores del proyecto siguen en marcha dando a conocer los diferentes tipos de energía, y promoviendo su uso responsable entre las escuelas. Ya hemos realizado un 40% de las charlas previstas, en 477 centros de Educación Primaria y Secundaria del territorio español.

De las valoraciones realizadas por los profesores cabe destacar que un 87% está muy satisfecho con la actividad, y un 92% opina que la presentación por parte de los educadores ha sido muy buena.

Éstas son algunas de las opiniones recogidas entre los profesores:

- “Ha sido muy interesante y una forma amena de introducir la unidad de la energía. Les servirá para poner en práctica las recomendaciones y participar de forma lúdica en la mejora del medioambiente. Esto les divierte y motiva para estudiar el tema”;

- “Mi experiencia y repasando 2 años anteriores, este taller me ha dado para desarrollar el trabajo de grupo y despertar y motivar a los alumnos el buen uso y ahorro de la energía. La valoración es muy positiva, nos gustara mucho siempre a tutores y especialmente a alumnos”;

- “La temática de la charla encaja perfectamente con las actividades de la clase y el programa establecido para este curso en las materias de Tecnología y Experimentales”.

P.A.U. Education leads innovative online dialogue for "Digital Agenda for Europe"

Summary:

The project for Online Engagement of Stakeholders supporting the ‘Digital Agenda for Europe’ initiative (DAE) was kicked off in Brussels on 9 January 2012 with the European Commission and the participation from P.A.U. Education of Pierre-Antoine Ullmo, Agnès Aguiló and Gary Shochat.

Description:

The Digital Agenda for Europe (DAE) is one of the seven flagship initiatives of Europe 2020 strategy set out by the European Commission.

P.A.U. Education is collaborating with a select group of high level experts, lead by David Osimo and Laia Pujol of Tech4i2 in implementing an innovative ‘online stakeholder engagement’ plan which will be using various social media and online tools such as uservoice and debategraph) to animate and create dialogue between stakeholders and policy makers across Europe and ultimately asses and influence European, national and regional policy through ideas and feedback coming directly from the stakeholders themselves.

During the kickoff meeting different strategies and online tools were discussed, as well as ways for enlarging the stakeholder-base and involving new types of stakeholders such as youth, benefitting from P.A.U. Education’s experience in other leading European Commission stakeholder engagement projects such as The European Road Safety Charter and Youth on the Move.

EYV 2011 Tour book

Summary:

This book has been produced by P.A.U. Education in the context of the European Year of Volunteering 2011, an initiative of the European Commission operated by P.A.U. Education.

Description:

The European Commission designated 2011 as the European Year of Volunteering. Both a celebration and a challenge, the Year set out to recognise and thank the millions of people in Europe who make a difference by working in their communities during their free time without being paid.

Hundreds of innovative, informative and enlightening activities, discussions and workshops enabled visitors to get up close and personal with volunteers and the organisations behind them.

It also aimed to raise awareness about volunteering and encourage new volunteers to sign up, by showing them the multiple avenues and advantages to becoming a volunteer — both for society as a whole and for each and every individual who volunteers.

The EYV Tour represented one of the main arteries of the Year. Visiting all 27 EU Member States, over the 12-month period it brought Europe closer to volunteers and volunteers closer to society.

Each 3-14 day Tour stop provided volunteers with the chance to exhibit their work, meet one another, engage with policy-makers and the general public, convey their energy and enthusiasm and discuss key issues of their work.

Extraordinary stories from ordinary people inspired members of the public to consider how they too could volunteer and improve their communities at local, national and European levels.

Important policy makers and stakeholders joined debates on how to support and improve life for volunteers around the world and to encourage new volunteers to sign up. Thanks to the EYV Relay and the presence of media, many of these events were publicised and reached a wide audience.

The EYV Tour could not have existed without the help of countless volunteers across Europe. This book is dedicated to each and every one of them, and to every volunteer that gives their time, devotion and energy to making a difference to society as a whole.

Summary:

Acaba de salir la primera newsletter del curso 2011-2012 del programa educativo Valores de futuro. Como siempre, con las últimas novedades e informaciones de interés para poder seguir los avances del programa.

Description:

Parece que fue ayer cuando salió la anterior pero ya han pasado tres meses y ya está aquí la primera newsletter de este curso. Hemos trabajado duro para mostrar el día a día del programa, recogiendo las opiniones y la información de interés de todos los que de una manera u otra están involucrados en él.

Para comenzar, Xavier Queralt, el director territorial de BBVA en Cataluña, quien ha tenido la suerte de conocer el programa desde sus comienzos, nos relata cómo lo ha visto crecer y consolidarse.

Los alumnos son los destinatarios de Valores de futuro y quisimos saber cómo trabajan los diversos talleres del programa. Por ello, entrevistamos a dos alumnas de 6º de Primaria que estaban realizando una investigación para el taller 54: Consumo responsable, y las acompañamos durante una mañana mientras realizaban su trabajo.

También hemos estado en la formación de los voluntarios para el taller-proyecto Ahorro para todos y pudimos constatar su entusiasmo ante el desafío que representa acompañar y asesorar a las escuelas para que puedan desarrollar su plan de ahorro. Y como el ahorro es uno de los temas básico de Valores de futuro también hemos entrevistado a Ana Luis Correia, experta de Aflatoun, quien nos dio unos interesantes consejos para ahorrar en la escuela.

incluD-ed European Network: Partners meeting in Prague

Summary:

On 2 December 2011, the second meeting of the incluD-ed (the European Network on Inclusive Education & Disability) took place in Prague held by the Rytmus Association. The objective of the meeting was to present the global success of the incluD-ed European Network in every city, share best practices among partners and to agree on the next steps to be taken.

Description:

During the Prague meeting, the first achievements of the network were shared and each partner presented their activities, work plans and the development of their local projects. Furthermore, there were two specific sessions to share in detail the good practices. The afternoon sessions were centered on the visibility of the network and the European Dimension, the presentation of the incluD-ed website and its promotion, and finally to presenting and agreeing on the next steps of the network.

The network is formed by five cities, Madrid (Spain), Liévin (France), Prague (Czech Republic), Jyväskylä (Finland) and Liège (Belgium), and coordinated by the following partners: Fundación Once (Spain), Association des paralysés de France - APF (France), Rytmus (Czech Republic), Kynnys (Finland) and Université de Liège (Belgium).

P.A.U. Education ensures the Network Sectretariat, in charge of coordinating and following-up on the network activities.

IncluD-ed has as primary goal the identification, dissemination and good practice exchange in inclusive education for people with disabilities across Europe to promote opportunities for employability. IncluD-ed is a network coordinated by the Fundación ONCE and co-financed by the European Social Fund (ESF) through the 2007-2013 operational programme for the fight against discrimination.
