Europa’s reference portal on education and technology
eLearningeuropa.info is home to an active and engaging community: scholars, educators, policy-makers, students and other stakeholders use the portal as a virtual meeting place where they come together to share and discuss solutions for a diverse range of educational issues.
Objective
The European Commission initiated the project elearningeuropa.info in 2002 to support the transformation of education through technology.
The solution
P.A.U. Education has created the elearningeuropa.info portal and has managed it since 2002. eLearningeuropa.info portal is a major reference on e-learning in Europe, providing access to extensive information on policies, activities and resources. Our goal in building and promoting this portal is to build it as a European platform for co-operation and dissemination of good and innovative practice in the use of multimedia technologies and the Internet for improving the quality of learning.
The portal and its user-generated content offer a collaborative, critical and creative approach to looking at where education is today and where it is headed in the future. An important part of the portal is represented by the eLearning Europa Communities, that gather members with common interests, offering them the possibility to propose Blog Posts, News, Events, Projects, Articles, Directory items, Resources and Videos. The portal makes use of the award-winning Drupal technology, the latest cutting-edge open source technology.
eLearningeuropa.info portal has established throughout 2011 a strong presence on social media, having a Twitter account, a Facebook page and a LinkedIn profile.
eLearning Papers is the portal’s online journal, and it has become a leading publication in its field. Its five annual issues are produced under the guidance of an editorial committee chaired by Tapio Koskinen, Head of New Solutions at Aalto University Professional Development. The content is produced by top European academics and practitioners. eLearning Papers’ summaries are available in 21 languages.
